iOS app — just your iPhone's camera

Watch over the little waves
of your pet's sleep.

MikaRipple is an iOS app that reads the gentle rise and fall of your sleeping pet's belly through the camera and records their sleeping respiratory rate. Small daily records become the moment you notice something has changed.

Why the breathing rate during sleep?

For cats and dogs with heart concerns, recording the sleeping respiratory rate every day is valued in veterinary care. It is the quiet signal of a family member who cannot tell you in words.

01

The steadiest baseline there is

Breathing during sleep is least affected by excitement or activity, which makes it ideal for day-to-day comparison. That is exactly why daily records matter.

02

Change shows up in the numbers

Breathing that stays faster than usual is a widely known sign that it may be time to see a veterinarian. Knowing your pet's normal is what gives you the power to notice.

03

Records change the conversation

With "since when, and how much" written down in numbers, you can tell your veterinarian exactly what happened. MikaRipple builds records you can show at the clinic as they are.

What it does

Measure without touching

Just point your iPhone at your sleeping pet. The app analyzes the tiny movements of the belly and measures the respiratory rate in 30–60 seconds — without waking anyone up.

Manual counting, too

You can also count by tapping the screen with each breath. When the camera can't get a good view, your records don't have to stop.

Thresholds you can see at a glance

Set a threshold for each pet; days that exceed it appear as red dots on the graph. The dashboard shows everyone's "normal / attention" status in one look.

A trend graph that keeps every value

Because daily changes are what matter, nothing is smoothed into averages. Pick a year and scroll through your raw records, day by day.

A PDF report for your veterinarian

Generate an A4 landscape report with statistics and graphs for any period — print-friendly, ready to hand to your vet at the clinic.

Your data never leaves your device

No account, no ads, no tracking. All records and all video analysis stay entirely on your iPhone — nothing is ever sent to external servers.

Three simple steps

Register your pet

Set a name, a photo, and a threshold. We recommend deciding the threshold together with your veterinarian. Multiple pets are supported.

Measure gently while they sleep

Prop up your iPhone and align the chest–belly area with the guide frame. A deep sleep gives the cleanest measurement.

Turn daily records into watchfulness

Review your records on the graph, and if something looks off, talk to your vet early — with the PDF report in hand.

About the name MikaRipple

The MikaRipple app icon: a sleeping cat and a breathing wave
"Have you noticed any changes recently — like faster breathing?"

It was supposed to be a routine checkup. That day, the developer was asked this question by the veterinarian. His beloved cat Mikan, who lives with heart disease, had gotten worse: she needed an oxygen chamber, and might need to be hospitalized. He had been closer to her than anyone, every single day — and he hadn't noticed any change at all. "If only I had watched her properly every day." That regret is where this app began.

Mika comes from Mikan, his beloved cat. Ripple comes from the waves of breath that cross a sleeping belly.

Count the small waves that quietly rise and fall, and keep them, day after day — so that the next time the vet asks, you can answer: "Yes, I have records." MikaRipple exists to make that regret one less in the world.

MikaRipple is not a medical or diagnostic device. Measurements are reference information for daily record-keeping. The app is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease — always consult your veterinarian about your pet's health.
